Hi Everyone,

I was just intregued as to whether anyone has experienced sensitive feet as a side effect of their medication? I am currently on 25mg Methotrexate, 10mg Arava and 5mg Steriods. It isn't all the time, but sometimes I will hit my toe quite lightly on a surface and it feels as though I have smashed it against a concrete wall!!

And on another side note - I also really struggle with veruka's. I have tried using treatments for them but it just wont get ride of them. I dont have many (1 or two on each foot) but they just will not go! Its starting to get very frustrating. Went to the doctors who told me "its just another problem with having a lowered immune system" - but was wondering if anyone has had similar?

Thanks team :) X

Hi Fran

Unfortunately verrucas can be long lasting due to the lowered immunity; possibly your bog standard over the counter preparations aren't suitable for you. Also you do have to be careful what you use when on strong RA drugs as even creams and lotions are absorbed into the system and can interact with other things. It would be worth seeing a podiatrist to get them sorted once and for all.

In RA, the feet can become easily damaged especially when you consider how much use they get! It's not uncommon for the metatarsal heads to become inflamed and sensitive as well as the small joints, any knock however small can be very painful . Worth getting a podiatrist to take a look ... you only get one pair of feet so they need a bit of TLC Smile

Hope you manage to get the problem sorted!

My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

Hi Francesca,

Not so much sensitive feet but if I knock my hands ouch! Dave gave my hand a very loving squeeze the other day which made me wince as well, poor lad always in the doghouse. Not sure if its the meds or just sometimes the swelling and pain as Lyn says? Listen to Lyn, she's got lots of wisdom pearls!

I had a rather nasty recurring wart on the lower bit of the inside of my ear. My GP was really good and freezed the little blighter off, took a few goes but it didn't come back for years then he sorted it out again for me and hey presto gone again. Warts and veruccas are just a viral thing and can be got rid of really easily, sounds as if your GP is being a bit lazy, I should persevere with that one if I were you.

Take care
Sara

Hi Fran,

If I knock my hands or feet they hurt like hell much more sensitive since RA was diagnosed.
